Statement of Intent
CeeJ: Avicii- The Nights
The song I have chosen to make a music video for is, Avicii- The Nights. My target audience is 16-25 AB demographic, this means they will be middle class so they or there parents will most likely be able to go on holiday so a music video filmed on beaches and beautiful settings would relate to them more as they would have seen it and know how amazing it is. This is why I have used a photo of a sunny beach with colourful houses for my website as the image alone should make people want to travel and go abroad as they will see settings in the music video and on the website which they've never been before.
My music video will be similar to the actual one as I will be getting my footage in the summer in India as I am going with the school, the footage will be made from a go pro, so the video should be good quality and be able to get lots of different angles have loads of editing in as I will be getting short footage around 10 seconds long maximum, then I will be editing them all together to match the music and the beat so make sure it looks like it suits it. I will be getting different locations like beach, river, forest, plane, bus, and other place doing different thing, as there will be different locations used it will show the people watching that its an adventure, the song will be perfect to suit the travelling music video as the lyrics talk about having a good life and living it as best as you can. I'm also going to have a mix between the videos and photos, I will also try different camera angles and shots to change the video and keep it new. As all the footage for my music video is filmed on a go pro it will mean its much easier to carry around and will all be hand held camera footage other than bits that are filmed with the camera on the ground to give a still shot, the reason I chose it to be shot using mostly hand held footage is because I wanted to make it seem as real as possible like its in the eyes of the person who's there, this is why it seems like the video is someones holiday abroad there isn't people dancing or doing something for the camera its all roar footage that's meant to feel like the viewer is there.When I come up with a logo for my artist I will have it at the start of the music video so people can link my logo with the website where my logo will also be shown, the reason for having it on both my music video and my website is so that people know that there linked, however I will also have a link to my music video on my website so its obviously the artists website.
As we are going to India for the purpose of independence and adventure I wont be using the use of a tripod so my shots will be hand held meaning it will be more organic and real feel, the only still shots I will use is when I put the go pro on the ground if I decide to have shots of me walking past or to emphasis the setting. I want to keep the audience in anticipation to what is coming next so they are always in suspense as there are so many different location and things happening, however its going to tell my story of India but it isn't in a particular order as I'll be showing my highlights of India showing the people in my group along the way. I want my music video to start with me at home showing my life which seems boring then me going to India to contrast the life I have at home compared to on holiday in India, this way it will send a message to people to live their lives to the fullest rather than sitting at home watching TV.
My music video will pretty much consist of people 16+, this is because its the age of my target demographic which will appeal to them even more as they are watching people like them going to a different country on an adventure having a good time, this will make them want to travel and might inspire them to out their house more and stop watching so much TV to go outside and enjoy life, this is why I have chose my video to start in my house with my alarm going off like its a normal day with the same boring routine until I look at a globe and realise I want to make something of my life and travel, this is also shown as during the music video there will be different clips of me looking at picture of India in a magazine at home then it will cut to me in India with the real thing in front of me, it will show people that dreams can come reality.
