Newspaper: Ownership and Regulation

Notes:  Freedom of press means t here are no restraints on the press, so they can put different opinions in the newspaper without the government being able to stop them, this also means they can talk about what ever they want which sometimes means people high up in the government are caught by the papers doing something illegal or immoral. Explain how the political context in which newspapers are produced, influences their ownership and regulation. Refer to   The Guardian  and   The Daily Mail   newspapers you have studied to support your answer.  [10] Due to freedom of press it enables newspapers to publish and white about what they want, this stops big companies and celebrities getting away with what they like, for example The Guardians ' Paradise  papers' which were a series of newspaper covers/ articles  exposing  everyone who had an offshore account. I believe that freedom of press it good because it allows the public to decide what's in the papers rather than

Question 3- Ownership and Regulation

What examples of editorialised content would not fit 'impartial' television news ( e.g. social or political opinion) from  The Guardian  and  The Daily Mail  print or online editions. Editorialised content means that its not advertising based in the act that they pursue direct sales intensions. This is the reason in which customers purchase or subscribe to these news outlets. How long have they been together? The band got together in 1985 so they have been together for 32 years. How would you categorise their music? There music is categorised as: art rock, alternative rock, progressive rock and experimental rock. How are they represented  in their promotional material (videos, photos etc.) There are lots of photos of them when they where young but also older so this shows how they have been a successful band for a long time. As the band is so big they have a good fan following which some people call cults. When magazines write about them its all positive so there isn't any bad publicity about them showing how they are as a band. However, all their photos seem to be in black and white this could show how they are trying to stay original to stand out from other modern bands or maybe they are trying to show another message about their music and the style they are trying to give.

1. How are Ok Go representing themselves? The three music videos we watched: End Love, Here it goes again and Obsession, are all very different to other music videos as they put lots of thought and work into their videos as seen from the music video Obsession, in this video they get around 100 printers and make two symmetrical sides so each side is a reflection and the paper comes out at the same time and make pictures and shapes. Their videos represents them as unique and original so they stand out from other bands/ singers. 2. What Media Language is present in all three music videos giving them a unique identity? Think about the similarities between each video 3. Why do you think they have adopted this representation? I think they have adopted this representation because they want to seem different and stand out, this also attracts lots of people who might feel inspired by their work. When watching all the videos it feels like they are linked together in some way, for ex
