Male Gaze

1) The first clip we watched was a Taylor Swift song called 'Bad Blood'', which music video shows lots of different other famous women including Salina Gomez and some other stars who are some kind of ninjas. The clip starts with Taylor Swift and Salina Gomez fighting off men then Salina kicks Taylor out a window onto a car and she comes out unharmed. They can also have  throwing knifes at very small targets. This would attract other women and make them feel empowered. This shows that the women are in control so it would attract other women to watch it and make them feel more powerful.

2) The second video we watched was a song called 'Tunnel Vision' by Justin Timberlake, this
was a bit different as it was a male singer, so the video wasn't as aimed towards women as the other one was. This video isn't as empowering as it is mainly a women completely naked on the fall and it some times cuts to Timberlake this gives the sense that the woman isn't in control as she is on the ground and Timberlake is standing up. Yet although this video doesn't make women feel powerful it could still attract them as there are also a lot of clips of Timberlake which some women could find attractive.

3) The final video we watched was a song called 'Pour it up' by Rihanna, although this one is by a woman like the first one it takes a whole new approach to attract the audience, Rihanna is seen on a gold throne with money all around her so this would attract women and empower them yet there are also pole dancers around her half naked which would attract men, to sum up this video would attract both men and women, as there is Rihanna with all the money and power yet there are pole dancers, but as there are only women in this video it does make it seem like women are in control.
